John Boozman’s office, look on during the opening of the Fitness Center at the Jones Center in Springdale. Several organizations contributed to the center including the Walton Family Foundation, Tyson Foods, Northwest Arkansas Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Walmart/Sam’s Team, and Good Sports. The center features new equipment including 13 pieces of cardiovascular and six strength training machines, dumb bells, mats and flat screen televisions.

The garden club is organized by Apple Seeds, a nonprofit organization promoting healthy eating habits and sustainable growing practices at area schools. The produce sold at the market was grown by students at the school with other items donated for the sale by local growers.

Widespread Panic, the Atlanta-based jam band that headlined the Wakarusa festival in 2010, returns to the top spot on the bill for this year’s edition of the music and camping event, which begins Thursday. Festival director Brett Mosiman says that many bands that have previously performed at Wakarusa were hand picked for this year’s event, which is the 10th.
