Meagan Lipscomb, a horticulturist for Bentonviille’s Park and Recreation department, pulls up tulips Wednesday on the city square. The tulips will be replaced by tropicals and summer annuals near the end of May. Lipscomb said the department usually gives the tulips away during the city’s Spring Tree Giveaway, but since the tulips stayed in bloom longer this year, she needs to find another event to give the plants away at. Lipscomb estimated there are 6,500 tulips that will be pulled in downtown Bentonville.
