Deric Subbert, a Centerton firefighter, rolls up a section of fire hose Saturday after working the scene of a fiery two-vehicle accident on Arkansas 102 near Coffelt Cemetery Road west of Centerton. Heath Alsip of Gentry was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville in good condition for injuries suffered in the accident. According to State Police Officer Jesse Woodham, Alsip’s vehicle crossed the center of the highway and collided with a delivery flatbed truck being driven by Meeks Lumber employee Daniel Cantu, who escaped his burning vehicle without injury.

Hallie Hairston, right, a volunteer with Horses for Healing, loads up Jonne Lou Maness’ dish with pulled pork Saturday during the people’s choice competition at Pig Trail Harley-Davidson on West Hudson Road in Rogers during the annual Smokin’ in the Ozarks event. The barbecue event hosted a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned competition and a people’s choice competition. There were 16 teams in the people’s choice pulled pork competition and 34 in the KCBS event. Proceeds from the event benefit Camp Corral and Horses for Healing.

Trail work at Lake Atalanta Park in Rogers on Saturday was one of 50 acts of kindness the staff at Crafton Tull architects and engineers of Rogers plans to accomplish to celebrate the firm’s 50 years in business. Matt Crafton, company president, left, and Chuck Wipf, right, build a terraced trail on a slope in the southwest portion of the park. Rogers provided the material and Crafton Tull employees provided the labor. Ten of the 50 acts of kindness are planned for Rogers. Others will take place in other cities where the company has offices, including Little Rock and Tulsa, Okla.

Audrey Grothe of Bella Vista experiments with oil pastels on watercolor paper Sunday at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville during an open drawing session. Grothe, primarily a watercolor artist, has never worked with oil pastels and decided to give them a try while at the museum. Twice a month, one Wednesday evening and one Sunday afternoon, guests have the opportunity to draw by observation using a variety of mediums provided by the museum. Drop-in drawing sessions are free. Interested participants can check scheduled dates on the museum’s calendar online at www.crystalbridges.org.
