Michael Simpson and Stacy Sloan, both cooks with Razor's Edge, a local catering service, refill food containers Friday, April 19, 2013, while tending to the self-service food line in the Mount Sequoyah dining hall at the Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center in Fayetteville.The retreat center received a $171,000 loan from the city in January 2012 to complete energy efficiency upgrades to multiple buildings, including a new Energy Star-rated roof on the more-than-50-year-old cafeteria.

Paul Clark, left, and Brett Preuett from the University of Louisiana-Monroe raise a check for $2,000 in the air alongside their trophies for the FLW College Fishing National Championships Sunday at Walmart on West Walnut Street in Rogers during the final weigh-in. Overall, the team pulled in 14 fish for 40 pounds, 3 ounces over the three-day tournament. Clark and Preuett won a total of $3,000 and a Ranger Z117 boat in addition to an invitation to the Forrest Wood Cup.

Kelly Mulhollan, left, and Donna Stjerna, both with the band Still on the Hill, get the music started Sunday afternoon during the Earth Day festival hosted by the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice & Ecology at the World Peace Wetland Prairie in Fayetteville on Duncan Avenue. Activities included bird songs, music and family fun. The World Peace Wetland Prairie seeks to preserve a remnant of Northwest Arkansas’ once abundant wetland prairie ecosystem. It was created as a partnership between the city of Fayetteville, Audubon Arkansas, the OMNI Center, the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association and Town Branch Neighborhood Association.

Shelby Chamness of Fayetteville greets London, a 5-year-old golden retriever mix Sunday at Walmart on Mall Avenue in Fayetteville during the North Shore Animal League’s 2013 Tour for Life mobile adoption event. The North Shore Animal League has been hosting a mobile adoption event for 13 years and teamed up with the Fayetteville Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of the Ozarks to provide an opportunity for local animals to be adopted on site. Animals from the Fayetteville Animal Shelter were available for adoption for $10. The mobile adoption tour stopped in north Little Rock on Saturday and will continue on and stop in Joplin, Mo., on Thursday.

Deborah Coody, from left, Maryevelyn Jones and Nancy Garner, all Fayetteville residents, join dozens of other concerned citizens as they prepare signs to protest a permit that the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has issued to C&H Hog Farm, which is under construction on a tributary of Big Creek. The tributary feeds into the Buffalo River. A protest will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday on the corner of Garland and Maple in Fayetteville.
