Jaxsun Woodhams, 4, samples the scent of one of the many tulip varieties decorating the square Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in downtown Bentonville. Jaxsun was spending the afternoon with his mother Amanda Woodhams and little sister Allie, 2. The three took advantage of the warm spring weather by having a picnic at Dave Peel Park and ice cream on the square.

The ceremony honored George Elementary School, Hunt Elementary School, Smith Elementary School and Westwood Elementary School receiving their Gold Awards of Distinction for the Healthier US School Challenge. The schools are the only ones in Arkansas to receive the award and only 50 schools in the nation have received the award.

Members of the George Elementary School's Honor Choir sing Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at a ceremony celebrating four Springdale elementary schools receiving Gold Awards of Distinction for the Healthier US School Challenge at Springdale Har-Ber high school's performing arts center in Springdale. The schools, Hunt, Smith, George and Westwood elementary schools were honored in the ceremony. The schools are the only ones in Arkansas to receive the award and only 50 school in the nation have received the award. U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Concannon spoke to assembled students from the schools.
