The Arkansas Elite Baseball Academy 12AAA baseball team won first place at the Spring Fling NIT on March 17 in Bixby, Okla. Debbie McGee, left, a nine-year leukemia survivor, and Montie Mayfield, a one-year breast cancer survivor, lead walkers on the first lap around a makeshift track in the indoor practice facility at Springdale Har-Ber High School Friday, March 29, 2013, during the school's first Relay for Life event. Cristal (cq) Hernandez and Eduardo Martinez, students in Har-Ber's Environmental and Spatial Technology program, spearheaded the project to host the fundraiser which benefits the American Cancer Society. Hernandez said the class plans to continue fundraising for the American Cancer Society after the conclusion of the event. She said the class aims to reach a $30,000 goal by August. The 12-hour walk had 18 teams participate and included in-house fundraising activities.

Rick Parker from Parker Conservation explains the process it took to restore the Dixieland House painting Friday, March 29, 2013, at 120 W. Walnut St. in Rogers during Finders Keepers' first meeting of the year. The painting, owned by the Rogers Historical Museum, is believed to have been painting in the early 20th century. The painting is of a house which used to be located at West Walnut Street and North Dixieland Road in Rogers.

Rendering of a new 1,800-seat arena for Farmington High School, which will be built on a 45-acre tract on Arkansas 170 on the south side of town. The Farmington School District hopes to begin construction of the arena and a fine arts complex behind the arena (not visible in the rendering) in early summer and to be completed in January 2015. The design is by Hight-Jackson Architects in Rogers. The project will cost about $9.5 million.
