Fayetteville emergency responders work to try to free a man who was trapped in a trench collapse Sunday evening at the Vue, an apartment complex under construction off Stadium Drive in Fayetteville. Responders were called to the scene at 4:57 p.m. The status of the man is unknown. A Fayetteville firefighter, who asked not to be identified, acknowledged there was a man buried because of a trench collapse, but gave no further information. The Vue will be an off-campus student housing complex.

Logan Hiatt, Fayetteville senior, has stepped up to every challenge in his time with the Bulldogs baseball program. The senior, who has signed with Hendrix College, is hitting .295 in conference games this season and has committed just four errors at third base in the past two years. Fayetteville begins play Friday in the Class 7A state tournament at Veterans Park in Rogers as the No. 1 seed from the 7A/6A-West Conference.
