Ian Phillips, 9, (above) plays “Perpetual Motion” by S. Suzuki on the violin Friday during a peace ceremony at Walnut Farm Montessori School in Bentonville. The event was in celebration of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. The Day of Peace was established in 1981 and was celebrated the third Tuesday of September until 2001 when the U.N. General Assembly voted to establish Sept. 21 as a day of nonviolence, peace, and cease-fire. Walnut Farm Montessori School has been celebrating International Day of Peace since 2005.
