Carmen Nelson, right, executive director of the Animal League of Washington County, holds her dog, Atticus, as Girl Scouts Shelby Earnheart, 6, of Bentonville, center, and Addison Shepherd, 6, of Alma learn the proper way to approach and be allowed to pet another person’s dog Saturday during the Believe in Girls Festival at the Jones Center in Springdale. This is the first year for the three-day festival that provided activities and workshops for Scouts from the area.
