Jacob Sargent, 12, uses a dibble bar Wednesday to create an opening to plant a tree seedling outside the Rogers School District’s Annex on South First Street after the Illinois River Watershed Partnership donated 230 tree seedlings for use. The tree-planting event developed after a presentation by the partnership about watershed effort and the benefit trees have on the environment. Trees were planted on the east and south sides of the building. Extra trees were available for students and faculty to take home and care for on their own. The trees will be used to help with water runoff.
