Harrison Cooper, 7, and his father, Chad Cooper, both of Fayetteville, plant trees Saturday alongside Crossover Boulevard in Fayetteville. The Illinois River Watershed Partnership hosted a tree planting at eight locations in Northwest Arkansas and northeast Oklahoma. Volunteers planted trees in riparian (river or stream bank) zones to decrease stream bank erosion, filter sediments from stormwater runoff, provide wildlife habitats and increase groundwater infiltration.
