Capt. Dusty Qualls with the Rogers Fire Department stands by Friday during a controlled fire at Arkansas and Oak streets. Firefighters burned the old Spic & Span laundry building, which is one of several houses and buildings the city purchased for demolition as part of improvements to the area south of downtown. It is one of several demolition fires that will be set in the weeks ahead, said Tom Jenkins, Rogers fire chief.
