Lori Hawkins, an eight-year volunteer from Springdale sorts through school supplies donated Friday on the first day of the United Way of Northwest Arkansas’ Stuff the Bus event at the Walmart Supercenter at 2004 S. Pleasant Ave. in Springdale. The event, now in its eighth year, collects donations of school supplies with the help of 550 volunteers in 11 locations in Northwest Arkansas to fill 4,000 backpacks donated by Walmart and help supply area schools.
