Frank Manasseri of Pea Ridge gets congratulations Thursday from Dianna Portillo, veterans coordinator at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, after Manasseri received three medals for his service in the U.S. Navy in the 1960s. He was stationed aboard the USS Charles H. Roan during the Cuban Missile crisis, but didn’t receive the medals at the time of his service. Manasseri is a graduate of NWACC and is a member of the NWACC alumni association. In the Navy he was a radio operator and was trained in Morse code, teletype and general movement of information. Lt. Col. Steve Gray with Sen. John Boozman’s, R-Ark., office presented the medals to Manasseri. Family members and NWACC students and faculty attended the ceremony at the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies on the campus in Bentonville.
